Terms of Hire

Last updated 13 June 2026. These terms apply to every skip hire booking placed with Valley Skips, based in Faringdon, SN7 7SS.

1. Who we are

Valley Skips arranges skip hire and waste collection; every load is handled by Environment Agency registered waste carriers and a waste transfer note is provided. You can reach us at [email protected]. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean Valley Skips, and "you" means the person or business placing the booking.

2. Booking and acceptance

A booking is a request to hire a skip. Your booking is accepted once we confirm availability for your chosen date and area. We deliver within 30 miles of SN7 7SS. If your postcode falls outside our coverage, or the date is unavailable, we will contact you to arrange an alternative or to issue a refund.

3. Prices, VAT and payment

Prices shown on the site are per skip and exclude VAT unless stated otherwise. VAT is added at the prevailing UK rate of 20% at checkout. The price includes delivery, hire for the standard period, collection and licensed disposal. A council road permit is an additional charge where the skip is placed on a public highway, shown to you before you pay. Payment is taken securely online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or by agreed trade account.

4. Delivery and access

We deliver Monday to Saturday. Same-day delivery is offered for orders placed before 10am, subject to availability. You are responsible for providing safe and clear access for our lorry, and for ensuring there is a suitable, lawful place to position the skip. If we cannot deliver because access is blocked or the agreed location is unsuitable, an abortive delivery charge may apply.

5. Permits for skips on the road

If your skip will stand on a public road, verge or footpath, a permit from the local council is required by law. We arrange this for you and add the permit fee, currently around £60, to your booking. Permits take effect from a set date, and the skip must be lit and marked in line with council rules, which we provide as standard.

6. What you can and cannot put in the skip

General household, garden, construction and trade waste is accepted. The following items are prohibited by law or by our licence and must never be placed in the skip: fridges and freezers, televisions and electrical goods, tyres, asbestos, plasterboard mixed with general waste, paint, oil, solvents, chemicals, batteries, gas bottles, clinical or hazardous waste. If prohibited items are found, you agree to pay the additional cost of removing and disposing of them lawfully.

7. Filling and overloading

Waste must be level with the top of the skip and not above it. We cannot, by law, transport an overloaded skip, and an overloaded skip may need to be partly emptied before collection at your cost. Please do not move or relocate the skip once it has been positioned.

8. Hire period and collection

The standard hire period is up to 14 days. We collect on or shortly after your requested collection date. If you need the skip for longer, contact us before the period ends and we will agree an extension where possible. Extended hire, or any council permit extension, may incur a further charge.

9. Damage and responsibility while on hire

From delivery until collection, the skip is your responsibility. You agree to keep it safe and not to overload, set fire to, deface or damage it. You are responsible for any loss of or damage to the skip while it is in your care, fair wear and tear excepted, and for any third-party claim arising from its placement on your land or a road permit obtained on your behalf.

10. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel or amend a booking before the skip is dispatched. Our full cancellation and refund position is set out on our Cancellation & Refund Policy page, which forms part of these terms.

11. Liability

We carry out our work with reasonable care and skill and hold public and employers' liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability for any booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. We are not liable for damage to driveways, paving or surfaces caused by the weight of the lorry or skip where you have directed us to a specific location.

12. Data protection

We handle your personal data in line with UK GDPR, as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory rights under consumer protection law.
