Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last updated 13 June 2026. This policy explains how to cancel or change a skip booking with Valley Skips (trading as Valley Skips) and when a refund is due. It forms part of our Terms of Hire.
How to cancel or change a booking
To cancel or amend a booking, email [email protected] with your booking reference, which starts "VSH-". The sooner you tell us, the more we can do.
Cancelling before delivery
- Before the skip is dispatched, cancel any time before the lorry leaves our depot and you receive a full refund.
- On the day, after dispatch, if the lorry is already en route we may have to pass on a reasonable abortive-delivery charge to cover the wasted run, and refund the balance.
- Council permit already purchased, where we have already paid the council for a road permit on your behalf, that permit fee is non-refundable, as the council does not refund it to us. The rest of your payment is refunded.
Changing the date, size or address
There is no charge to move a booking to another available date or to change the skip size before dispatch, subject to availability and any difference in price. If a larger skip costs more, we will take the difference; if a smaller skip costs less, we refund the difference. A change of delivery address that takes the job outside our 30-mile area cannot be fulfilled, and we will refund you in full.
After the skip has been delivered
Once a skip has been delivered the service has begun, so the standard hire fee is not refundable. If you no longer need it, call us and we will arrange early collection where possible. Any prohibited-waste, overloading or extended-hire charges set out in our Terms of Hire are separate from this policy.
If we cannot deliver
If we are unable to deliver your skip for any reason on our side, for example a vehicle problem or a date we cannot meet, we will offer you the next available date or a full refund, whichever you prefer.
Your consumer rights
For services arranged at a distance, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Where you ask us to start the service within that period, for example by booking a same-day or next-day delivery, you may be charged for the part of the service already provided up to the point you cancel. These statutory rights sit alongside the policy above and are not reduced by it. Business and trade-account customers are subject to the agreed account terms rather than the consumer cancellation right.
How refunds are paid
Refunds are made to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 working days of us agreeing the refund. We will email you to confirm once it has been processed.
